Each year level has two hours of literacy learning daily. Each lesson includes targeted teaching and structured activities in reading and viewing, writing and speaking and listening. The program is delivered through our Workshop Model. This involves a whole class introduction for tuning in and explicit instruction, small group rotations with a teacher focus group or individual work, a check-in to clarify student understanding and a further explicit teaching and student work time. Reading digital texts and writing using the iPads and laptops is an integral part of the program. We are privileged to have 1-1 devices. This model “looks” different across the year levels as students progress and begin to work more independently.
